Pride Marketing: How to Break Through the Colour
Wander | June ’26
June has arrived.
The sun is trying its best to appear for more than twenty minutes at a time. Beer gardens are filling up. Social feeds are becoming more colourful by the day.
Pride Month is officially here!
And with it comes one of the busiest periods of the year for brands wanting to show up, support communities and join the conversation.
That’s great, right?!
Yes, the cultural, colourful party on your feeds is cause for celebration, but navigating it (and being part of it) is harder than you think.
Feeds are flooded with rainbow graphics. Logos get temporary makeovers. LGBT+ influencers are the voices at the top of your timeline.
Standing out in a Pride parade seems kiiiiinda impossible, right?!
It’s a good job you don’t have to. In fact, it’s aaaaaallllllllllll about finding your place in the parade.
So how do you make an impact without fading into the background? How do you avoid rainbow-washing? How do you create something people actually remember?
Let’s get into it.
Before you start thinking about campaigns, visuals or hashtags, you NEED to ask yourself a simple question:
Why are you even showing up?!
The strongest Pride campaigns start with authenticity.
Audiences are sharper than ever. They can spot performative marketing from a mile away. If your Pride activity feels disconnected from your brand, your values or your community, people notice.
That doesn’t mean every brand needs a grand statement. Sometimes authenticity looks like amplifying voices. Sometimes it’s supporting a cause. Sometimes it’s simply showing up in a way that feels genuine to who you already are.
The most impactful campaigns this month are building on a brand personality that’s real and already established.
If your Pride campaign looks exactly like everybody else’s, you’ve already got a problem.
Pride is rooted in self-expression. Creativity. Individuality.
Your marketing should reflect that.
This is the time to be brave. To take creative risks. To find fresh angles and tell stories in ways that feel exciting. The brands that stand out are finding ideas that feel distinct.
The goal is to create something people stop scrolling for.
Do you know your WHY? The reason you market your brand, yourself, your values?
A colourful campaign without an actual purpose is just decoration.
A lot of brands focus so much on looking the part that they forget to ask what value they’re actually bringing.
What are you contributing?
What conversation are you adding to?
What does success actually look like?
Every piece of marketing should have a reason for existing. Pride campaigns are no different.
Whether you’re sharing stories, supporting creators, spotlighting communities or launching something new, there should be a clear “why” sitting behind it.
Joining the conversation is important. Copying everybody else isn’t.
The temptation during Pride Month is to look around and follow the crowd.
Similar visuals. Similar messaging. Similar ideas.
And hey… it feels nice to play it safe. Buuuuuuut no ones gonna remember you.
The strongest brands understand that standing out often means being willing to do things differently.
You need to be confident enough to have your own perspective, voice and place in the conversation.
Join the parade by all means.
Just don’t spend the entire journey walking directly behind everyone else.
