The Art of Repurposing Content
Wander | September ’25
Oh hey! Welcome to the Wander art gallery. Today’s exhibition is alllllll about making the most of your marketing. Think of every piece of content like an installation with the potential to be reimagined and repurposed into new experiences, formats and moments. Giving your work new lives without losing an ounce of its original charm.
Of course, there’s an art to this (which is why we’re in a gallery right now 👀), you’ve gotta hit that sweet spot or your audience is gonna see right through it like a glass sculpture.
Come take a tour around our gallery and we’ll give you the lowdown on repurposing with purpose…
Every masterpiece has to start somewhere. One rough idea, one blog, one video… that’s you putting pencil to paper and starting something magical. We’re not saying you’ve got a perfect replica of Starry Night on your hands, but a lil’ refinement and some creative framing can turn something simple into a showstopper. Recognising the CORE value of your content before you even start thinking about other platforms is the key to repurposing.
Does it align with your values and messaging? Does it hit your brief? Does it target your audience? Congrats, you’ve got a banger on your hands that’s ready to be repurposed for future use.
Once you’ve got a masterpiece, it’s time to start switching it up a bit. One original concept, many expressions. We’re talking transformation and a ton of creativity. This is where your blog becomes a carousel, your podcast becomes a snippet and your video becomes a reel.
Think Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans: one subject seen in different ways, with endless paths to engage. Platforms, audiences, formats… each iteration speaks a slightly different language, while still holding onto the original spark.
Repurposing doesn’t just mean taking a new piece of content and adapting it, though. Sometimes you’ve gotta dig back into the archives and find that hidden gem that needs more time in the spotlight. You can take a past concept and bring it back to life with fresh visuals, updated stats or new copy.
Restored content works because it’s familiar, it gives your audience something they already love in a way that feels new. Take a past graphic and add your rebrand, find that footage you loved and edit it to a current trend, reread your blog and pick out a quote that struck gold.
Juuuuust make sure you’re giving it a new edge, not just dragging up the past.
Sometimes the piece doesn’t need changing at all. You just need to show it from a new angle. Shift the lens, reframe the story, spotlight it differently. The same content suddenly tells a different story depending on where it sits, how it’s presented and who’s looking.
Repurposing is ALLLLLL about perspective, show your audience something they thought they knew in a way they’ve never seen.
Striking your balance
Think about your favourite art piece of ALL TIME (big question, we know…). Now imagine if it was shown to the public for a week and then put into a box for the rest of time to avoid repurposing it.
That would suck, right?! We’re not saying you should only ever reuse content. Marketing is all about keeping it fresh, staying in line with trends and breaking the mould in suuuuuper crowded markets.
The magic is in knowing exactly when you repurpose and when to create something from scratch. Strategy is super important here, putting thought into your marketing is the difference between reaching your goals and falling flat.
Your best work isn’t a one-off… It’s a collection, curated thoughtfully with every piece adding value.
