5 More Marketing Updates You’ve Missed This Year
Wander | July ’26
Right, who else blinked and suddenly the year was halfway done?
Wasn’t it just yesterday we were decking halls and eating way too many Quality Streets?!
It’s nearly August and we’re feeling it. There’s no more 2026 marketing predictions, we’re in the thick of it with platform updates, new trends and rules to follow.
If you’re not up to date, here’s the chance to be. We’ve got 5 huge updates from the past 3 months for you to take a look at, so the next time someone brings up algorithms or new short-form features you’re good to go 🫡
It’s true… sharing IS caring!
The days of brands and creators staying in their own lanes are disappearing FAST.
Instagram’s Collab feature has become a staple for brands looking to share audiences. With their photos and videos going live from two accounts.
That means two active audiences, two feed placements, two times the amount of engagement.
It also means a ton more faith from users. People trust the accounts they follow, when you’re attached to them, they’ll trust you too.
Now for the update:
Multiple platforms are embracing this collaborative approach. YouTube launched creator collaborations last year, with crossover content becoming one of the biggest drivers of growth on the platform.
Now LinkedIn is testing collaborative posts too, opening the door for brands, businesses and professionals to create content together instead of separately. On a platform built on connection and thought leadership, this is an opportunity for companies and individuals to grow their presence in authentic ways.
Whether it’s creator partnerships, founder collaborations or two brands joining forces, expect collaborative content to keep climbing the priority list.
If anyone was still wondering whether video had peaked… The answer is still a big old NO.
YouTube continues to double down with updates to YouTube Studio, making content management cleaner and giving creators better tools behind the scenes.
Plus, the short-form push continues on social platforms, with X expanding its video editor, introducing features like green screen effects and multi-language captions to make content more accessible and dynamic.
We can’t predict what video content will look like by the end of the year, but we CAN guarantee it’s a path worth taking.
Audience tracking is a beast we all have to tackle eventually.
Reaching people is great, knowing where they found you is golden.
A HUGE update for 2026 comes from Google Search Console and their introduction of Platform Properties, giving marketers a clearer picture of how social content performs through Google Search.
Instead of only tracking website traffic, brands can now see which search terms are leading people towards content on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube.
Social content has always been important for brand awareness and growth, but there wasn’t a solid line of correlation between the two. Now, social media managers everywhere can rejoice as we can see exactly why organic content is working.
This is a massive shift in reporting and, if used right, could be a game-changer
The conversation around AI isn’t slowing down and it isn’t stopping any time soon. Platforms, users and brands are consistently trying to ride the wave, which means transparency is a winner.
Meta and YouTube have both continued refining the way AI-generated content is labelled, with Meta placing extra focus on advertising so users have a clearer understanding of what’s been created or significantly altered using AI.
X’s Community Notes is evolving too. Users now receive DM’s if they’ve interacted with a post that later receives a Community Note correcting or adding context.
Of course, there’s plenty of debate around how effective these systems even are. (It’s the internet, of course everyone disagrees with each other)
One thing we can’t deny is that people want to know what’s real, what’s edited and where information is coming from. Trust has become part of the platform offering and brand voice.
2026 could bring ALLLLLL the algorithm updates, AI tools and shiny new features the internet needs, people still just love to talk about people.
We’re all gossips deep down.
No example is bigger than Taylor Swift. Love her or hate her, she’s a hot topic. July saw the entire internet (and likely maaaaany of the people around you) talking about her wedding and all the little details surrounding it.
The biggest twist is we never even saw the wedding. The only insight given was the venue, star-studded guest arrivals and rumours from onlookers.
It goes to show that celebrity is still a massive influence over culture and marketing.
It might just be worth putting a bit of R&D on the rich and famous into your strategy.
So what does this all mean?!
If there’s one thing these updates have in common, it’s connection.
Platforms are making collaboration easier. Search is becoming more connected to social. Video keeps bringing audiences together. Transparency is building trust and cultural moments continue to unite millions of people online.
Marketing in 2026 is all about bringing us closer.
Closer to people, closer to conversations and closer to the way audiences naturally behave online.
If you wanna succeed, keep up with your audience and stay true to your values. Authenticity fosters community, community keeps connection alive.
TL;DR: Marketing’s biggest updates this quarter all point in the same direction: more collaboration through video, shared culture, transparency and stronger connections between platforms. The brands fostering connection now will be on top before the year ends.
